The E34 M5 Touring debuted for the 1992 model year as part of the E34 BMW M5. As the first station wagon version of the M5, the E34 M5 Touring holds a special place in BMW's history. Initially, all variants were equipped with the 311hp 'S38B36' 3.6L V8 engine, but from the 1992 model year, European markets received the larger 335hp 'S38B38' 3.8L V8. The vast majority of E34 M5s were fitted with a 5 speed manual transmission, but for the last year of production, a 6 speed manual was introduced. BMW continued to build the E34 BMW M5 until 1995, when the next generation E39 BMW M5 was introduced. Just a total of 891 E34 M5 Touring were built.
