BMW introduced the Motorsport version of the 4 Series, the M4, for the 2015 model year. Known internally at BMW as the F82 (Coupe) and F83 (Convertible), these cars only shared around 50% of their components with the standard F32 4 Series. In addition to the Base Model, the M4 has seen a range of variants such as the Competition Package, GTS, CS, DTM Champion Edition, Magny Cours Edition, and M Heritage Edition. F82 M4 cars are fitted with the BMW S55 3.0L twin turbo inline six engine, in various states of tune depending on the variant. Due to the dynamic abilities of the M4, it was commonly used as a race car, including the factory built GT4. Production of the F82 M4 ended in 2020, and it was replaced by the G82 BMW M4.
