BMW M3 Johnny Cecotto Edition - E30 (1990 to 1991)

The BMW M3 Johnny Cecotto Edition was a limited edition version of the E30 BMW M3. Introduced for the 1990 model year, these cars were offered in a two door coupe body style, and were created as a tribute to one of BMW's DTM drivers at the time, Johnny Cecotto (A tribute edition for the other driver at the time, Roberto Ravaglia, is incredibly rare, with just 25 examples built). Power came from BMW's S14 inline four engine, with an output of 212hp being sent to the rear wheels via a 5 speed manual transmission. These cars also received the bumpers from the M3 Sport Evolution, giving the cars a more sporty appearance. Both the Roberto Ravaglia Edition and the Johnny Cecotto Edition combined for a production run of 505 examples, with each one bearing a plaque with the driver's signature and its number out of 505. Of these 505, 480 were Johnny Cecotto Editions, and 25 were Roberto Ravaglia Editions, although an additional run of 80 Swiss market exclusive 80 Johnny Cecotto Editions were built exclusively for the Swiss market, with a slightly downtuned 208hp version of the S14 engine instead of the standard unit.
