The BMW 2002 Cabriolet was a limited production variant of the BMW 2002 Base Model that was offered in 1971. The 2002 Cabriolet featured a convertible body that was built by the coachbuilder Baur. These cars featured BMW's M05 engine, which was a 99hp 2.0L inline four that sent drive to the rear wheels through a 4 speed manual transmission. In 1971, Baur introduced their new convertible body style, which was known as the 2002 Top Cabriolet. This new body style replaced the 2002 Cabriolet, which had only been in production for six months. This short production span led to just 200 examples of the BMW 2002 Cabriolet being built in 1971.
