The second generation of Audi TT was introduced for the 2007 model year. Known as the Mk2, or Type 8J, the second generation TT featured a longer wheelbase, upgraded mechanicals, and a few new engine options, including a diesel version, as well as the turbocharged 2.5L inline five engine used for the sporty TT RS variant. The Mk2 TT received various awards during its life, and is well regarded as being reliable and well built. The Mk2 Audi TT was in production until 2014 and was replaced by the Mk3 Audi TT.
