Audi introduced the R8 for the 2007 model year. A mid engined supercar, the R8 was the first Audi model built entirely by their performance division, Audi Sport. The Audi R8 has seen two generations, the Type 42 and the Type 4S. Both of these R8 generations are based on a Lamborghini model (Gallardo and Huracan, respectively). Over the course of production, the R8 has been offered as a coupe or convertible, as well as with V8 or V10 engines.
