The Audi S8 was a performance version of the D2 Audi A8. The S8 (D2) was introduced for the 1996 model year with various upgrades to the drivetrain and chassis in order to make the large sedan a highly capable car. The S8 (D2) was fitted with a 4.2L V8 engine and was in production until 2003.
