For the 2006 model year, Aston Martin re-introduced the Vantage name. These new cars used the Vantage name not to signify a higher performance variant as had been tradition, but instead, these new cars were a distinct model. Created to be a lighter and more focused offering, the new Vantage models marked a change from previous uses of the name Vantage. Initially offered as the V8-powered V8 Vantage, this model would be fitted with a V12 in 2009, and be known as the V12 Vantage. Late in the model's life, an 'S' variant was offered to both V8 and V12 versions. Production of the Second Generation Aston Martin Vantage ended in 2018 before it was replaced by the Third Generation Aston Martin Vantage.
