For the 2005 model year, Aston Martin unveiled the DB9. As the successor to the DB7, this new grand tourer was given the name DB9 as the company felt using the name DB8 would imply an evolution from the previous model as well as the use of a V8 engine. The DB9 featured sleek styling and was available as either a coupe or a 'Volante' convertible, and featured a 5.9L V12 engine at the front. Two evolutions were built, the VH I (2005-2012) and the VH II (2013-2016).
