The second generation of AMC Javelin was introduced for the 1971 model year. This updated generation of Javelin was offered as a rear wheel drive two door hardtop, and was available with a range of inline six and V8 engines. Two main standard variants were offered, the Base Model, and the SST. The most notable 2nd Gen Javelin was the Javelin AMX performance variant, which carried the 'AMX' designation from the discontinued AMC AMX. Production of the AMC Javelin ended in 1974.
