In 1956, Alfa Romeo introduced the performance variant of the Giulietta Sprint. Known as the Sprint Veloce, this performance version of the Sprint is powered by a 1.3L inline four engine producing 89hp. A lighter version known as the Sprint Veloce Alleggarita was also produced, making this the 'base model' or 'standard' version. The Alfa Sprint Veloce was in production until 1962, when it was renamed Giulia, essentially still the same car, but fitted with a 1.6L engine.
