The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita was a special lightweight version of the standard Giulietta Sprint Veloce that debuted in 1956. Created with racing in mind, the Sprint Veloce Alleggerita (Italian for "lightened") saw significant weight savings in order to increase performance and handling. As well as the extensive use of aluminum, many interior features such as the rear seats were removed, and the side windows were replaced with plexiglass. These weight reduction measures led to the Alleggerita being 150 pounds lighter than the standard Sprint Veloce, which made a significant difference in performance. The Alleggerita is one of the rarest and most sought after versions of the Giulietta, with production ending in 1958.
