The Acura Integra Type R was introduced for the 1997 model year. Often regarded as the best handling front wheel drive car, the Acura Integra Type R holds a revered position in the automotive world. Offered exclusively as a hatchback, the Type R boasted numerous improvements to the chassis, suspension, and engine. The result of these upgrades was a 195hp front wheel drive car capable of competing with, and besting, comparable four wheel drive turbo cars of the time. An unheralded modern classic, the Acura Integra Type R was in production until 2001.
