These cars were powered by Mercedes' OM615.940 engine, which was a diesel 2.0L inline four that generated 55hp, which powered the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. A total of 339,927 examples of the W115 Mercedes-Benz 200D were built before the end of production in 1976.
