The front-wheel-drive Mazda MX-3, produced from 1992 to 1998, is the smaller sibling of the MX-6. The two-door hatchback was available with either a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine or a more modern and powerful 1.8-liter V-6 engine (only offered until 1994). Mazda ventured into new territory with the latter engine option. The torque curve was optimized using the Variable Resonance Induction System (VRIS). Customers appeared to neglect the model favoring the more popular RX-7 and MX-5.
