The most expensive classic & exotic cars sold in 2024
The collector car auction scene has been busy in 2024, with some big sales grabbing headlines. All of the top cars sold this year came from live auctions – with RM Sotheby’s leading the way with six of the Top 10 Sales. Mecum and Gooding & Company each landed two of the Top 10 as well.
In terms of makes, Ferraris were the clear winners with five of the top spots – proving once again that the Prancing Horse is still king in the collector car market. These cars aren’t just impressive machines – they’re valuable investments that show how strong demand remains for the rarest and most desirable classics.

Interestingly, the top online sale landed at number 14, with SBX selling a 2015 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster for $6M. However, there is controversy regarding this sale price since it was reported after the auction had ended. The next highest online sale without controversy was this 2022 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport sold for $4.1M at Bring a Trailer. Whichever online sale you believe deserves the crown, the gap between live auction results and online platforms still persists when it comes to Top Sales in 2024.
