Throughout the year, we’ve tracked sale prices from the leading auction venues around the world (live and online), and used that data to present to you the Top 100 Collector Car Markets of 2023 – the top models of classic and exotic cars whose overall market value has increased over the past year.
To qualify for this list, a Market must have had at least 10 sales in 2023. Then, we track market performance by our CMB*, which is calculated every day using a proprietary algorithm that takes into account all sales prior to that day.
After analyzing data for more than 1,200 markets, affordable classics, cult enthusiast vehicles, and new classics dominate the list. In fact, the top 10 Markets all had a CMB under $40K, with the exception of one – the Base Lamborghini Diablo – and only 10 Markets from the Top 100 had a CMB above $100K.
This doesn’t mean that we don’t see any movement in the high-value spectrum of the market. There were very few $250K+ markets in the analysis, as they did not meet the criteria for having 10 sales this year. However, we do see slight appreciation in those markets, and strong demand above the current level of supply. Like the Diablo, these markets only need one or two great examples to come to auction to drive market values up. Once an adventurous collector decides it is the time to sell and picks the venue correctly, a “call to sell” trend can emerge on a specific market.
Tips on using this chart:
- Click on the name of a Market to view all sales tracked in the last 5 years
- Use the Search box to view all Markets of a certain Make (ex: Porsche, Ferrari, Toyota)
- Sort the list by clicking on each Column header
- Refresh the page to re-sort the list back to the initial setting
- If the 1Y Growth column is highlighted in Green, it signifies that the Market trend was growing in the 2nd half of the year.

*The CLASSIC.COM Market Benchmark (CMB) is a benchmark value for vehicles in a given Market based on data accumulated by CLASSIC.COM and calculated by a proprietary algorithm that takes into account volume and recency of each data point. CMB can be used to assess the performance of a market over a given time period. However, it does not represent the value of a specific vehicle. Read more in our Glossary of Terms
