Classic Car Market Stats: June 2020

The second quarter of 2020 caps the most tumultuous period that we’ve seen for the classic car market in our generation: with $129.6m in USD denominated sales*, the market was down 45% from $237.2 in Q2’19. June itself was no surprise with $43.1m in sales, down 29% from $60.5m in June 2019.

But behind the scenes, things are heating up big time. Bring a Trailer was acquired by Hearst Autos and we’ve heard rumblings about major investments by some of the auction houses to truly compete online. Barrett Jackson already has an impressive lineup for their online auction in July, RM Sotheby’s just announced a July online auction. and even Gooding & Co., known for blockbuster sales and impeccable live events, announced the aptly named “Geared Online” auction with a fantastic lot preview

All stats in this post are as of June 30, 2020 at 7pm eastern.
