The Volvo 245 was a variant of the Volvo 200 Series that debuted for the 1975 model year. The 245 was built in a wagon body style, and was available with Volvo's 'Red Block' engine, which was an inline four ranging from 1.8L to 2.3L in displacement. The 245, whose name stands for 200 Series, 4 cylinders, 5 doors, was a rear wheel drive car offered with manual or automatic transmissions. In 1985, Volvo changed their naming system, resulting in all four cylinder 200 Series cars being known as 240, with there no longer being a designation for body style in the name. With this name change, the 245 became the 240 Estate (wagon), which was built until 1993.
