The second evolution of the Volvo 1800 was the 1800S. After Volvo moved production to Sweden, the P1800 was renamed the Volvo 1800S. The 1800S was largely similar to its predecessor, maintaining its sporty lines and character. Its 1.8L inline four engine saw periodic improvements until a 2.0L inline four was fitted for the 1969 model year. For the 1970 model year, the 1800S saw numerous updates, and was renamed the Volvo 1800E.
