As its predecessor, the Volkswagen Type 2 T1 Single Cab, the T2 two-door pickup was also a rare variant. The Volkswagen Type 2 T2 Single Cab pickup had under bed storage and was powered by different flat-four engines, driving the rear wheels. The T2 Single Cab was built until 1979 in Germany and North America but production lasted until 1995 in Mexico. The Type 2 T2 Single Cab pick up was replaced by the Type 2 T3 Single Cab pick up.
