The top of the line variant for the Volkswagen Corrado was the VR6. Introduced in 1992 replacing the Corrado G60 and after a cosmetic revision such as the seven slat grill being replaced by a four slat, front wings widened and the bonnet and bumper redesigned, the Corrado VR6 was marketed as the SLC in the United States, with SLC meaning Sport Luxury Coupe. In North America, the VR6 was fitted with a 2.8L engine, while the European market received a slightly more powerful 2.9L engine. Powerful, and a strong drivers car, the Corrado VR6 is one of Volkswagen's most sought after models. In 1995 a 500 units limited edition badged as the Corrado VR6 Storm was available for the United Kingdom only and in 1992 a very rare edition named the Corrado Campaign was launched with only six cars produced. The Volkswagen Corrado ended production in 1996.
