The successor to the Triumph TR2 was named the TR3 and was introduced to the market in 1955. It was still a traditional roadster but with greater power and an upgraded breaking system. The first TR3’s had a 2.0L inline four, but this engine was later upgraded to a 2.2L inline four, with both engines paired to a 4 speed manual transmission. Evolutions of the TR3 included the TR3A, and latter TR3B. In addition to road-going versions, a large number of TR3s were turned into Race Cars. Production of the TR3 came to an end in 1963 when the new Michelotti-styled Triumph TR4 came to market.
