Toyota's fifth generation of the Celica (1990 to 1993) was given new styling that fits well into its new decade. The small sports car retained its front-wheel drive setup, offering new engine updates. Also maintained was the choice of Coupe (a/k/a notchback), Hatchback, and Convertible body styles depending on the variant chosen. Toyota sent North America four different variants beginning with the base ST, along with the GT, GTS, and the GT-Four, which would also return as the most potent version of the Celica. A homologation version called the GT-Four RC (Carlos Sainz edition) was also constructed. Due to the motorsports heritage of this generation, many 5th Gen Celicas were converted into Race Cars.
