Terraplane was an American automotive brand created by the Hudson Motor Company. Terraplane was born from Hudson's previous Essex brand, as in 1932, Essex cars were known as Essex-Terraplanes. In 1934, the cars were known solely as Terraplanes. A variety of closed and open body styles were available on the Terraplane, which was built to feature rugged construction and durability in all sorts of environments. In 1938, Hudson began to phase out the Terraplane brand, and all 1938 Terraplanes were known as Hudson-Terraplanes. These Hudson-Terraplanes would end production in 1938.
