The third generation Subaru Impreza was introduced for the 2008 model year. The third generation of Impreza was offered in sedan and five door hatchback body styles. In addition to two body styles, two different widths were offered. A 'narrow' version used for standard Imprezas, and a 'wide' version first used for the WRX STi, but filtered down to the WRX in 2011. Production of the standard third generation Impreza ended in 2011, and the model was replaced by the Fourth Generation Subaru Impreza, but the WRX and WRX STi variants were built until 2014. After the end of fourth generation WRX & STi variants, Subaru moved these performance cars into their own model known as the Subaru WRX.
