The Stanley Motor Carriage Company was an American car manufacturer from the early 1900's. The company was noted for making steam powered motor cars, with most of their cars known as Stanley Steamers, although the company made various models. Stanley steam cars became obsolete in the 1920's as gas engines produced more power and had become easier to operate at lower cost. Eventually, the company closed in 1924.
