The third and final evolution of the Saab Sonett was introduced for the 1970 model year and was known as the Sonett III. Featuring more angular and updated styling, the Sonett III was the highest selling of all Sonett variants, with 8,368 examples built. Two engines were fitted to the Sonett III, a 1.5L V4 and a 1.7L V4. Although due to emissions regulations, both engines produced the same power. Production of the Saab Sonett III ended in 1974.
