For the 1967 model year, Porsche introduced a more powerful variant of the 911 and called it the 911S (S = Super). Distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs alloy wheels, it featured the same 2.0 Liter as the standard model, but it produced 30 more HP for a total of 160 hp. The 911S featured engine Type 901/02 with Weber carburetors. The model was available as either a 911S Coupe or 911S Targa with a 'soft' plastic rear window. Total production numbers are spotty, but they are estimated at 2,306, of which 1,823 were Coupe and 483 were Targa. Vehicles from this period with significant modifications can be found in the 911S custom market.  It was succeeded by the 1968 911S.
