After the 991.1 GT3 was offered only with PDK, many believed the 997 GT3 would remain the last manual GT Porsche. Yet the success and enthusiasm surrounding the limited-run, manual-only 911 R convinced Porsche that demand for a three-pedal GT3 was still very much alive. In response to that, Porsche re-introduced two variants of the new 991.2 GT3 featuring a six-speed manual transmission, marking the return to three-pedal setups in Porsche’s production GT lineup. The manual gearbox—essentially the same unit that debuted in the 911 R— was offered as an option on the standard GT3 or as standard equipment in the purist-focused GT3 Touring variant, keeping the future GT3 RS as the sole naturally aspirated GT model available exclusively with PDK.
