The fifth generation Pontiac GTO was introduced for the 2004 model year. As the third and fourth generation of GTO were trim levels for the LeMans and Ventura respectively, the fifth generation GTO was the first model to carry the GTO name since 1971. While the new generation of GTO was its own unique model, the car itself was largely a rebranded Holden Monaro. The fifth gen GTO was fitted with a 5.7L or 6.0L V8 engine, and was produced until 2006.
