During Pontiac's second generation of the GTO, they introduced a performance variant called the "Judge." The name was based on a comedy routine from the TV show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. The Judge itself was no laughing matter. The car boasted a 400ci Ram Air III or Ram Air IV, producing 366hp and 370hp, according to conservative estimates. Judge customers could also order a four-speed or automatic transmission and even a convertible. Subsequent years would introduce an LS5 455ci V8. The Judge lasted just three years, from 1969 to 1971, but its notoriety among collectors still endures today. It is believed that about 11,004 GTOs with the Judge package were built during this short period.
