The third generation of the Plymouth Satellite helped usher in the Malaise era in the American automotive industry. The car underwent a complete redesign that is representative of the 70s design with heavier looks and big engines. Again the car was available in coupe, sedan and station wagon. Several variants of the car were built, such as the Sebring, Sebring Plus, as well the Roadrunner, and the GTX returned based on the Satellite. The Satellite did not return for a fourth generation, with production ending in 1974.
