The first generation of Plymouth Fury was introduced for the 1959 model year. The Fury name had originally been used for the top trim level of the Plymouth Belvedere, but was spun off into its own model. The most notable variant of the Fury was the Sport Fury, which was the top of the range offering from Plymouth. The first generation Fury was only available in 1959, and was replaced by the Second Generation Plymouth Fury.
