The Mitsubishi Pajero was introduced for the 1983 model year. The Pajero, which is also known as the Montero or Shogun depending on the market, was a series of all wheel drive SUVs. Three and five door SUV body styles were available, as well as a cloth top three door version. The first generation of Pajero was known as the L040, and featured a range of inline four and V6 engines, including diesel options. Production of the first generation Pajero lasted until 1991, when the Second Generation Mitsubishi Pajero was introduced.
