Production of the MG A 1500 started in 1955 as the first variant offered for the MG A. The A's new streamlined design was a revolution, and a vast departure from previous models. These new cars were fitted with a 1500cc inline four engine that generated 68hp (later 72hp) and was paired to a 4 speed manual gearbox. The MG A 1500 was built in two body styles: coupe and roadster. The MG A 1500 was built until 1959, when it was replaced by the MG A 1600.
