The second generation of Mercury Marquis was introduced for the 1969 model year. The second generation Marquis was expanded to a full model range, now featuring sedan, coupe, convertible, and station wagon body styles. Power for this new generation of Marquis came from a range of V8 engines (5.8L, 6.6L, 7.0L, 7.5L). In 1974, the Grand Marquis interior package was offered, and the following year, in 1975, the Grand Marquis became a premium trim level for the Marquis before becoming its own model in 1979. Production of the second generation Marquis ended in 1978, with the model replaced by the Third Generation Mercury Marquis.
