Mercury was an American automotive manufacturer founded in 1938. Mercury was created to sit between Ford and Lincoln, thus creating an intermediate make. The first model produced by the company was the Mercury Eight, which was introduced for the 1939 model year. Models such as the Cougar, Monterey, Montclair, Park Lane, and Marauder are just a few examples of notable cars produced by the company. For many years, Mercury was very successful, but as the new century dawned, the brand entered difficulties and was eventually discontinued in 2011.
