The sixth generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, the W222, was introduced for the 2014 model year. The W222 brought numerous technological improvements to the S-Class Sedan, with a notable increase in the presence of hybrid systems throughout the series of cars. A wide range of engines and hybrid configurations were offered, including an inline 6 with and an electric motor, a twin turbo V8, and twin turbo V12. The W222 features notable variants such as the S400h, S500, S500 4MATIC, S550, S550 4MATIC, S350d, S600, S450, S450 4MATIC, S560, S560 4MATIC, S560e, S63 AMG, S63 AMG 4MATIC and the S65 AMG. The W222 S-Class also offered ultra luxury variants under the Maybach brand such as the Maybach S550, Maybach S550 4MATIC, Maybach S600, Maybach S560 4MATIC, Maybach S650 and the Maybach S600 Pullman. Production of the W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class lasted until 2020, when the next generation W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was unveiled.
