In 1958, Mercedes-Benz introduced the W128. The last of the "Ponton" series of cars, the W128 was based on the W180, but fitted with Mercedes' larger and more powerful M127 2.2L inline 6 engine. The W128 series of cars also featured a more luxuriously appointed interior, as well as a greater range of standard options. The W128 was available as one variant, the 220 SE. Three body styles were offered: 220SE Sedan, 220SE Coupe, and a 220SE Cabriolet. All three body styles were offered from 1958 until the end of production in 1960.
