Mercedes-Benz introduced their W111 series of cars for the 1960 model year. Over the course of production, the W111 was built in three body styles: The W111 Sedan (1960-1968), the W111 Coupe (1961-1971), and the W111 Cabriolet (1961-1971). This series of cars are nicknamed Heckflosse, which means 'Fintail' in German. The sedan variants feature a more defined fintail, while the coupe and cabriolet sport a much cleaner rear end. The W111 eventually generated two variants, the more upscale W112, and the more accessible W110. People often confuse W111 coupe and cabriolet as being W108 & W109 variants, but W108s & W109s were only built as a 4-door models.
