The Mercedes-Benz 300GE (later the G300), was a variant of the W463 G-Class that was introduced in 1990. The 300 GE was offered on both the short and long wheelbase, as well as in convertible and wagon body styles. These cars were powered by Mercedes' M103 E30 engine, which was a 3.0L inline six that generated 168hp and 140 lb ft of torque. This power was sent to all four wheels via a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. In late 1993, Mercedes changed their naming system, moving the letter designation in front of the displacement designation, resulting in the 300GE becoming the G300. A total of 4,983 examples of the 300GE/G300 were built before the end of production in 1994.
