The Mercedes-Benz 250CE was a variant of the W114 Coupe that was introduced for the 1970 model year. The 250 CE was powered by Mercedes' M114.980 engine, which was a 2.5L inline six that was equipped with Bosch's D-Jetronic fuel-injection system. This was the first time that Mercedes offered a car with electronic fuel-injection. The M114.980 engine generated 150hp and 156 lb ft of torque, which was sent to the rear wheels via manual and automatic transmission options. A total of 21,787 examples of the W114 Mercedes-Benz 250CE were built before production ended in 1972, and it was replaced by the W114 Mercedes-Benz 280CE.
