The first generation of Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class was introduced for the 2005 model year, and is known internally as the C219. Based on the W211 E-Class platform, the new CLS featured a sleek style meant to give the four door car coupe-like styling. The C219 was available with either a V6 or V8 engine and was available in a range of variants including CLS320 CDI, CLS350, CLS500, CLS550, CLS55 AMG, and CLS63 AMG. Production of the C219 CLS-Class ended in 2010, and was replaced by the C218 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.
