The second generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class was introduced for the 2001 model year updating the W202 C-Class. Known internally as the W203, the second gen C-Class added a new variant to the range: a 2 door coupe known as the C-Class SportCoupe (later known as the CLC) to the already established C-Class sedan and C-Class station wagon body styles. The W203 was offered with an inline 4, inline 6, V6, or V8 engine. The W203 was in production until 2007, when it was replaced by the W204 C-Class.
