The 4th Gen of the Mazda B-Series pickup was released for the 1986 model year, as a 2 door or 4 door pickup along with new engines that ranged from 2.0L I4 to 2.6L I4 with both diesel and petrol versions available. A new 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic gearbox were available and as part of the new generation a four wheel drive option was introduced. For 1994, Mazda North America ended imports of the B-series from Japan, entering into an agreement with Ford to market a rebadged version of the Ford Ranger as the B-series in the United States and Canada. In line with previous Mazda pickup trucks, badging was related to engine displacement, with the B2300 sold with the 2.3-liter inline-four, and the B3000 receiving the 3.0-liter V6. The 4th Gen B-Series ended production in 1998, when it was replaced by the 5th Gen Mazda B-Series.
