Maserati introduced the launch, or Base Model, GranTurismo for the 2008 model year. The standard GranTurismo was offered in a two door coupe body style, and featured a 4.2L V8 engine that was built in collaboration with Ferrari. This engine had an output of 399hp that was sent to the rear wheels via a 6 speed automatic transmission.
