The second generation of Lotus Exige was introduced in 2004. Known as the Series 2 Exige, this new series of cars were still based on the Lotus Elise, but featured different body work as well as the hardtop roof. Initially offered with a 1.8L inline four engine, a supercharged 1.8L inline four engine was introduced for the Exige S and S variants. The Lotus Exige Series 2 was in production until 2011, and was replaced by the Exige Series 3.
