The first generation of Lexus LS was introduced for the 1990 model year. Known as the XF10, this first generation of Lexus' luxury sedan was engineered to match or surpass quality levels expected of high end European sedans. The XF10 only offered one variant, the LS 400. Powered by a 4.0L V8, the LS 400 quickly established the Lexus LS as a serious player in the luxury sedan market. Built until 1994, the XF10 was replaced by the XF20 for the 1995 model year.
