The first generation of Range Rover Sport was introduced for the 2006 model year. The first gen Range Rover Sport was developed from the Discovery 3's monocoque on frame platform, which provided off road capability, while maintaining ride and refinement. The Range Rover Sport featured a sleek design, and was fitted with a range of V8 engines capable of delivering high end performance in a heavy off road capable package. The First Generation Range Rover Sport was built until 2013 and was replaced by the Second Generation Range Rover Sport.
